I met Hamish 15 years ago when he did an Alpha course. He HATED Nicky Gumbel on the video but at least Nicky wasn't there to hear it all! (Maybe he did hear it. Hamish's volume was turned up) (But we had great discussions afterwards) Since then he joined St John's and St Stephen's where he remained an iconic presence until his death. I got to know him especially well in 2020, helping him out and visiting a couple of times a week during the pandemic. Never stuck for conversation!! His erudition was immense. I loved him.
